DEAR GUESTS OF
SOUNDART 2018 AT THE WDR FUNKHAUS IN COLOGNE!
The largest radio play studio of Westdeutscher Rundfunk is once again the venue for our SoundART event, which has been taking place since 2004 – the longest-running exhibition series for sound art
in Germany. The program is part of a collaboration between WDR 3, the STIFTUNG HÖREN foundation, and the Skulpturenmuseum
Glaskasten Marl. The impressive space, which is otherwise used to produce major radio broadcasts, will become a stage for sound-based performances during this museum night
: a challenge for the artists' improvisational skills and certainly also for the
ears and eyes of our visitors. In Studio 3 of the WDR Funkhaus, Kathrin Stumreich, Ali Chakav, Robert Seidel & Nikolai von Sallwitz & Alsen Rau,
Robert Elias Stokowy, Valerio Tricoli, Mario de Vega, and Anne Wellmer will present a live performance program with surprising acoustic and visual interventions.
Kathrin Stumreich is also this year's winner of the European Soundart Award, presented by the cultural radio station WDR 3 in collaboration with the STIFTUNG HÖREN and the Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl.
The award ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. at the start of SoundART 2018. We are looking forward to a program that is tailored precisely to the spatial conditions of the WDR Funkhaus. It is part of the overall program of the Long Museum Night Cologne, into which the WDR's “Kulturhaus” fits perfectly as a venue for premieres of electronic and new music that has been active since the 1950s.
We wish you an eventful Museum Night.
