Cultural morphing soundscape

Textile samples, collected as keyframes during travelling from Vienna to Shanghai are played with a new developed reel to reel "textile "sculpture.

Textile Soundscape is a project investigating sounds within cultural specific fabrics. During a mobile residency project at the transsibirian railway from Vienna to Shanghai the artist collected fabrics from
sitespecific locations along the track. 5 sculptures were created to move those fabric tracks along reels. Light sensors measure the opacity while the fabrics are constantly moved This opacity value delivers a certain code and is translated into sound. It
enables listening to a regions pattern and transforms the visible and touchable into a composition of 5 fabric tracks collected along the road.
